WHAT IS THE CRIMINAL RECORD EXTRACT?
As an alternative to the criminal record certificate, a criminal record extract (visura del casellario giudiziale) may be requested. Although it has no certifying value and therefore cannot be used for administrative purposes or employment-related reasons, it allows the applicant to become aware of all final judicial decisions issued against them, including those that are not visible in the certificate, pursuant to Article 24 of the Consolidated Act, without the payment of any stamp duty.
Indeed, the absence of a conviction from the criminal record certificate does not imply that the decision does not exist.
The extract is therefore the most comprehensive tool for fully understanding the judicial situation of the person concerned.
Precisely because it cannot be used for administrative or employment purposes, the extract does not include the applicant’s personal identification details.
